Kai Tak Sports Park | FutureScope

Description

Hong Kong has a new cultural and artistic landmark! Hong Kong's first large-scale hemispherical art space, 'FutureScope', will make its debut at Kai Tak Sports Park in mid-December. Audiences can step into this unique structural space with a diameter of 12 meters and immerse themselves in a 360-degree projection and sound effects. Three immersive artistic experiences will be featured, and admission is free. More details will be announced through official channels later!

First 360-degree Immersive Dome Art Space

Media art dome venues around the world have been attracting attention, such as the 'Sphere' in Las Vegas, the Cosm entertainment venues in Los Angeles and Dallas, and the Intuit Dome, home of the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers. This month, Hong Kong will have its very own FutureScope! FutureScope is Hong Kong's first large-scale hemispherical art space, with a unique 12-meter diameter structure located on the Victoria Harbour waterfront. Visitors can immerse themselves in a 360-degree projection and sound effects, creating a unique multimedia experience. From December 19, 2025, to April 2026, the public can experience a blend of Eastern philosophy and media art at the 'Yuan Yuan Tang' venue of Kai Tak Sports Park. It's a must-visit for art enthusiasts!

Art Director Cheung Hon Him (h0h1m) stated, 'Within the art dome, visitors will find themselves in an immersive world where digits and celestial bodies converge. Looking up, they will behold a cosmos of light and sound. Stepping out of the dome, their gaze returns to the infinite firmament. This dialogue between the artificial and natural worlds prompts reflections on how technology expands our horizons and our connection to art and the universe.'

3 Immersive Artistic Experiences

What to expect at FutureScope has become a hot topic. FutureScope brings together Hong Kong media artist Cheung Hon Him (h0nh1m), his art teams XCEPT and XCEED, and multiple world-renowned artists for cross-media collaborations. From December 2025 to April 2026, the space will feature three sets of artworks: 'Perpetual Records', 'Resonance Aura', and 'Waving Script'. The exhibition will be open daily during the show period, with extended hours on weekends and public holidays. In addition to the free exhibition, there will be ticketed performances, offering visitors a diverse range of experiences. The first exhibition will be a collaboration between renowned Japanese media artist Daito Manabe and the XCEED team!

Daito Manabe has led the Rhizomatiks team in numerous well-known projects and served as the AR director for the 'Flag Handover Ceremony' at the 2016 Rio Olympic Closing Ceremony. His works are highly anticipated. In February and March 2026, there will be performances by experimental singer Sankai Narichiak, who is famous for her Tuvan throat singing; Chinese calligrapher Xu Jing, who pioneered the 'wine-ink' technique; and Cantonese opera artist Leung Fei Tung, recognized by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for his outstanding contributions to the art form.

Exhibition Details

•    Perpetual Records (ft. Daito Manabe)  XCEPT

This artwork uses the audience's emotions and facial data as material and collaborates with renowned Japanese new media artist Daito Manabe to create sound programs for an instantly evolving infinite fractal universe. This captivating experience will culminate in a limited-seat live performance by Cheung Hon Him from January 2 to 4, 2026, with four shows per day, transforming the dome space into a mesmerizing synchronized light and sound archive.

Date: December 19, 2025 - January 4, 2026

•    Resonance Aura (ft. Sankai Narichiak)   XCEED

This artwork will be presented by Hong Kong media art group XCEED in February 2026. XCEED joins hands with exceptional experimental singer Sankai Narichiak, exploring the mysteries of sound and vibration. Special live performances will showcase her masterful Tuvan throat singing technique, creating an immersive meditative soundscape that guides listeners towards deep listening and heightened inner awareness.

Date: February 2026

•    Waving Script (ft. Xu Jing)     Cheung Hon Him (h0nh1m)

Waving Script, created by Cheung Hon Him (h0nh1m) with participation from Xu Jing, will be exhibited from March to April 2026. Cheung Hon Him collaborates with Chinese calligrapher Xu Jing and Cantonese opera artist Leung Fei Tung, reinterpreting Chinese calligraphy through motion and technological means. Following his collaborations with the Hong Kong Palace Museum and M+, this poetic dialogue between traditional brushwork and digital expression continues his exploration of Eastern aesthetics.
